The Beacon Initiative
The Beacon Initiative was established by Cork County Council in 2012 and is funded by the Economic Development Fund. The Initiative was set up to help companies sustain existing employment, while also trying to achieve growth in turnover and an increase in profitability, with the ultimate goal being, creation of new employment opportunities within existing businesses.
The Beacon Initiative is divided into two categories; The Beacon Initiative (for qualifying SMEs) and the Beacon Retail Programme.

The Rubicon Centre
The Rubicon Centre is Ireland’s premier Business Incubation Centre and is located on campus in the Cork Institute of Technology. Home to 57 knowledge based start-up companies, the Centre is jointly financed by CIT & Enterprise Ireland. Clients based at the Rubicon are at different stages of development, from concept stage to completing their first customer orders and many are already trading on the International Market.
The Rubicon Centre offers a programme aimed specifically at female entrepreneurs and start-ups, called the PINC programme.

Ignite UCC Graduate Business Innovation Centre
IGNITE is an incubation centre in University College Cork for higher education graduates of any discipline to create jobs by nurturing entrepreneurship, accelerating business start-ups, turning innovative ideas into innovative products/ services and participate in a structured programme on all aspects of bringing a product or service to market.
Greenshoots Emerging Entrepreneur Programme
The Greenshoots Emerging Entrepreneurs Programme is a six month programme which provides entrepreneurs with the facilities, support and skills required to make a real success of their business. The programme is based at Macroom E Enterprise Centre and supported by South Cork Enterprise Board and the Economic Development Section of Cork County Council.
